Ghanaian media tycoon Edward Boateng is the Founder and Chairman of media conglomerate Global media Alliance. Edward Boateng had been the Africa Head of Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) based in Atlanta, USA and later London, UK. He was responsible for engineering the transmission of channels like CNN, Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies into Africa.

Edward’s passion was to portray his native Africa to the world after his biggest realization on joining Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS); on joining TBS, Edward had discovered that Africa was not aptly represented and didn't have a 'voice' in the media. This led him to develop a concept for a TV program at CNN called Inside Africa. CNN went on to achieve a massive boost with its presence in Africa through the introduction of programs like Inside Africa which chronicled the stories of Africa on CNN every week.

He also established the CNN African Journalists Awards (CNN AJA) to recognize excellence in journalism in Africa. Both brands have grown to become references for excellence in Africa.

In 1998, he incorporated Global Media Alliance (GMA) in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a view to offering services like corporate communications, television production and media relations and event management.

Currently, GMA is headquartered in Accra, Ghana with an office in Kenya and partners in Nigeria, UK, South Africa and Malaysia.
