OVERVIEW

Pak-Wo Shum was born to Ghanaian and Chinese parents. Before venturing into the aviation industry, Pak Shum undertook several entrepreneurial ventures in the mining sector by setting up companies like King Mineral Resources Limited which had 169 sq. km gold concession in Amanase, Ashanti Region and Adeva Gold Resources with 121 sq. Km gold concession in Nkrankwanta, Brong Ahafo as well as a 106 sq. km gold concession in Kwapon, Brong Ahafo.

Pak Shum set up Travel King in March 2003 and was able to leverage the value of huge company travel budgets against special considerations from airlines that weren’t available to the everyday customer, by doing so he managed to keep both airlines and their high value customers were happy.Within nine months of setting up that company it won KLM’s most innovative agency award.

Pak Shum went on to win several other awards which included Entrepreneur of the Year - Airline Industry. He also became the Ghana partner to BCD Travel, a global travel management company, which operates in 96 countries on five continents, with US$14 billion in total sales and a combined worldwide workforce in excess of 12,000 by 2004. Two years later the Delta Air Lines opportunity came up.

Pak Shum eventually left Travel King and went on to set up Aviation Alliance to meet Delta’s deadline of a December 2006 flight launch.
